HOW MUCH PLASTIC CAN YOU COLLECT IN 2 MONTHS
We thought it was always going to be worthwhile even though the council officers were suspicious that there would be a poor uptake and cost dear. The pilot scheme was a huge success and had to be rolled out across the borough.We asked how much plastic had been collected in the first 2 months and was now being recycled? The reply was:
May 2008 = 42.92 tonnes
June 2008 = 54.72 tonnes
Total collected so far = 97.64 tonnes, which is equivalent to 1, 952, 800 plastic bottles!!
