RAINHILL CRIME FIGURES for MAY 2005

There were SIX burglaries from houses and one attempted burglary during the month. These are similar figures to the last reported figures on the website for March 2005.

Car crimes continue to cause concern and TWELVE cars were broken into and THREE cars were stolen. Little if any improvement on the last figures.

The police have teamed up with Ford dealers to run an initiative to secure cd/radio players in Ford cars. This service is FREE and involves inserting four grub screws into the player and displaying a window sticker. Interested? Contact your local Community Support Officer or Ford dealer direct.

Please be aware that the Village is a target area for these crimes and ensure all reasonable precautions to safeguard your property are taken.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 1 -7 JUNE 2005

Today is the first day of National Volunteer Week and locally our Community Volunteers will be working alongside the Police, Community Support Officers and Special Constables undertaking many initiatives including:-

Combating Car Crime - offering free CD radio security in order to target a spate of thefts in the St Helens Area.

Crime Prevention Literature - Hand delivering literature in identified hot spots.

Community Speedwatch - The present Force-wide speeding campaign to continue. Volunteers to help identify areas where speed is a particular problem. These areas to be risk assessed and support be given to set up local Community Speed Watch Schemes.

Volunteers are still needed - Police Community Volunteers are always welcome to help keep police officers on the beat by taking off them some of the duties that they must undertake, for example manning enquiry desks. You can make a real difference.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can get more information by contacting LYNN CARBERRY (Homewatch and Volunteers Co-ordinator) on 0151 777 6027 or email lynn.carberry@merseyside.police.uk
