Dane Court car park offpeak charges reviewed

We continue to beggar belief that there is any sense in having a good convenient car park next to the well used Village Hall that is 80% empty in the early evening. I personally will not use the car park and I know many others have commented the same. Several motorists have indicated that they have lost money in the machines, they simply don't refund all the coins when they should. I have also been informed that some cars have been clamped and a "freedom charge" of £80 demanded.

Some better news on the horizon though as the charges for evening/night parking are now set at a maximum of 40p. Perhaps our campaigning, together with individual users, has indeed had an impact!!!

  • Now that this carpark is a "Pay & Display" I repeatedly see cars parking along Weaver Avenue on both sides, causing safety issues and the car park is virtually empty !! If the managers of the carpark would allow 1hr free parking, this would reduce this problem and also please the shoppers of rainhill.

  • Most people don't bother getting tickets for the car park or would sooner park around the other side behind the Co-op village store where it is resident and shop keeper permits only.

I have complained on many occasions to the parking company who to be fair are now sending more wardens out to combat the problem. As the people in the flats can not get access to there own homes and have difficulty getting anything delivered or even taxis

  • most people don't even bother getting parking tickets and decide to park on the private car park area behind the Co-op Village Store.

This area is for shop owners and residents only and i have complained about this to Excel Parking on many occasions, and to be fair to them they are starting to send out more wardens.

The people in the flats and shops cannot get anything delivered or taxis because of these nuisance parkers who deserve every £80 fine they get if they cant read the signs.
