ATTENTION RAINHILL GARDENERS

Spring Compost Give Away
Date for your diary

Attention all Rainhill gardeners, St Helens Council are again giving away FREE compost, first come first served.

Come along to Clock Face Colliery Country Park, Gorsey Lane on Sunday 19th March 2006 between 11.00am – 4.00pm with your empty bags and fill them with FREE compost.

But supplies are limited so be early. Compost will be limited to 60 litres per person (2 mediums).

The event has been organised following the great success of the autumn give away which resulted in over 500 lucky St.Helens residents filling their bags with ‘free’ compost (peat free soil improver) from the 30 tonnes provided on the day.

The events are organised by St.Helens Council as part of the Merseyside Composting Network to promote good composting practice within Merseyside.

Cllr Steve Glover says ‘The compost is good example of the quality of material that can be produced from your garden waste, a number of people were amazed when informed that the ‘compost’ contained ‘garden waste’ from the St.Helens ‘green waste collection’ which previously would have gone to landfill (tip) and that a similar results can be achieved by a home Composter."
