80 PLACE CAR PARK AT PLANNING MEETING

Tomorrow at 5.30pm the Planning Committee will hear the case for an 80 place car park on Stoney Lane. The builders of Whiston Hospital will claim that it is vital that construction workers have ample parking nearby. An earlier application for a 700+ car park was withdrawn after local residents showed their disapproval in huge numbers.

A further 20+ residents have also lodged objections to this application alongside ourselves and cllr. Doyle will be speaking against the application on behalf of the residents and fellow councillors. He will argue that traffic flows will be worsened around the already struggling road network of the village. We also fear that other car park schemes may be forthcoming (especially if this application is successful) to add to the congestion: that's why we believe it is crucial that contractors are brought in by bus.

WEDNESDAY 18th July UPDATE: Despite all the efforts of councillor Mike Doyle and two residents who all spoke in objection, the Planning Committee approved the application which we still contest is wrong.
